Living Springs - caleb

The Management Team
Living Springs Camp
Christchurch

1 November 2016

Dear Living Springs Staff
Thank you for welcoming us to your  wonderful camp and thank you for teaching us about different types of plants and trees like ogaoga and the cabbage tree. The food you serve is so amazing including the dessert and I was so fascinated by the shells and crabs we found in Lyttelton harbour like a catseye. I was interested about Quail Island and I've researched it and this is what i found.
The island was given its European name by Captain Mein Smith who saw native quail here in 1842.
It was really hard for me to go through the forest because there’s ogaoga and it’s always slippery and steep which made it really dangerous when we were going down hill. One time I slipped and fell when my team were going to do Orienteering. I love all the activities we did, mostly the one where we make a habitat for imaginary animals. I have learnt lots of things, like looking after myself and being independent, I have learnt how to work together in a team situation and to look out for each other.  I learnt to listen to other people’s plans on how to solve difficult teamwork problems.

I was fortunate to be part of our Rowley Avenue School Camp, because I have learnt so much about the Outdoors.

Most of all I have learnt to always be kind to others.

Thank you once again

Yours faithfully
